I work at Penn State and the folks in the College of Ag. have been doing a deer study for quite some time. They've been publishing the results of their study thus far and I have to say the data and findings are pretty neat. See for yourself.

It's always the first Monday after Thanksgiving and is open for two weeks (excluding Sundays of course).

OK explains the lack of movement, wish Minnesota would move the gun hunt out of the rut.

Muzzy, great share! Really enjoyed reading these studies. The new fawn survival studies will be really interesting.

They have been doing some really great in depth research. I found the study pertaining to how deer "hole up" when the gun season starts fascinating.

Although I can't stand the PA Game Commission or some of their nonsensical rules, how they changed the seasons, etc., these studies are about fawn survival and buck/doe range and not about deer management or antler restrictions. Pretty interesting read.

I've been to the Penn State Deer pen areas and talked to students and faculty there. They are very knowledgeable about deer behavior and habitat. Great post Muzzy...

The qdma model for some of their blogs is to hold fund raisers for the colleges or donate money and in return you see a lot of the research show up on the qdma website. I am not saying this is a bad thing, but I would say I do not believe the research as much as I would from a university that is not collecting money.

No bias or underlying agenda here. It has nothing to do with managing land. Its about deer behavior.
