This christmas, I've been looking at some lights specifically for bowhunting, and I was wondering what you would recommend. I am really considering a streamlight in particular a protac hl-3. Any streamlights at a better price that are good for bowhunting? I would really appreciate everyones feedback, thanks.
I use this Walther. It is super bright and easy on the wallet. you want be disappointed I promise. Walther Tactical Pro Flashlight LED 2 CR123A Batteries Aluminum Black Looks like Midway has discontinued them, might can find it on Amazon or something if you are interested.
You want to look at higher end flash lights that have a "Neutral White" head. What I have found over the years as that a really bright / white light will wash out reds. IMO... Much easier to see blood with a Coleman lantern then it is will a really bright / white flash light.
Flash lights are handy, But I always have a coleman lantern in the truck for those night trailing jobs. Helps to see the blood and when the season gets later it helps to warm your hands up, dual purpose. Beefie
The Browning Catalyst is the best light I have ever used in my opinion. Equal to my streamlights lumen wise and easier on the wallet. A+ in my book
Sportsmen Guide sells a tracking flashlight for twenty dollars that uses purple and red and really makes the blood stand out I used mine to find six deer this year you to can be a expert this light makes it easy just beware all your friends will want you to find theres to or borrow the light
I was pointed to a video of using peroxide for tracking. The blood light didn't work for me but I'm pretty color blind, I'm hoping the peroxide will work well.
Peroxide does work I have been using it for years. My buddy that is color blind uses it as well, it helps but if the blood trail is weak it is a challenge for him. The thing to remember is to keep it in a dark container or it will break down. I keep mine in a hair spray bottle covered in duct tape to keep the sunlight away. Beefie
