The down jacket takes up by far the most room.
Thank you for all your replies. I never know what items I should have and what not to bring. I do carry most of the items listed but there are a few things I will be adding. Thanks again
Couple calls, cover scent Fixed blade Knife, Boo boo /blow out kit Chem light Snacks, water, wind checker, headlamp A strap to be used as a drag or an extra step. Hat, gloves and extra socks. Some form of Navigation. And a rain/wind jacket strapped to the bottom. Always have a folding knife, handheld light and the M&P on me. I usually wear my harness in, so I throw a L-belt and tree rope in as well.
My bag this season mostly carried my binoculars, water, snacks, and clothes as we got warm. I am thinking of switching to a fanny pack next year, since I am getting a binocular harness for Christmas this year. That, and it will make stalking a little bit easier.
Nothing, heck I leave the quiver hanging in the tree sometimes. One of the nice things about hunting at home.
I went way light this year. The only things that made every trip were my knife, headlight & drag strap. Most trips also had the following grunt call rangefinder pull up rope handwarmers
I carry a lot of stuff. I pack in all my outer layers, and put them on at my tree. - Range finder - Release - Grunt call -Rattle bag - Binoculars - An EZ hanger - Knife and small bone saw - Hand saw - Tinks - Muddy seat cushion - Rain jacket - TP and paper towls - Plastic gloves - Plastic bag with License/tags/permission slips - Two small flash lights - Bottle of water - Turkey and swiss sandwich
The whistle is a good idea for safety reasons. If something would ever happen, and there was a fall of some sort, it could be useful. Sometimes cell phones don't have good service where we hunt and I know I certainly have ran the battery down from using data. On a hunt this year I didn't have good service and my battery was on red by about 9:30 a.m. I was planning on doing an all day sit but got bailed out and shot a deer a little after 8:00 a.m.

I MUST start carrying a deer drag system. I used to pull my sled behind me with a treestand, but did not bring one this year when bowhunting. I dropped a buck during gun season and had to drag this thing a loooong way, then under a barbed wire fence to get it back to the farmers land where he met me with his ATV. My hands were purple for a few days from the small deer drag rope I had, so I now need some sort of a shoulder or waist harness to drag deer. If your cell phones are dead due to poor reception, I believe putting them on Airplane mode or just turning them off and checking onece per hour or so should help. Longdraw
