I just finished an android application that will only require you to sight in your 20 and 30 yard pins. With the camera on your android device simply point it at your sight, line up the 20 and 30 yard pin markers and set your 40, 50, and 60 yard pins! I got the idea from the Trophy Ridge Rect Bow Sight. Let me know your guy's thoughts on it and if there is any modifications or functionality that needs to be added. Thought this could help some people save some cash, arrow, and time. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.NexsysSoftwareSystems.sighttune
K.I.S.S. principle Wow, such a simple concept! Very nice. I've got the react 5 site and love it. I'll try this out on my daughter's bow.
Do you punch in your arrow set up and draw length and poundage? Different set ups will have a varying degree of drop no?
You will not need to enter in any of your bow's or arrow's information. All of the arrow flight characteristics are factored in when you tune your 20 and 30 yard pins. Then the application will simply extrapolate the remaining pin locations. When using this application you only need to sight in the 20 and one of the other 4 remaining pins to get the proper mathematical flight paths. Thank your for the replies! Again if there is anything that you guys want to see in the app just let me know! Also, if there are any more questions let me know!
Will it work if you use odd yardages? I use 22, 28, 33, 38, 43 I can make sight tapes so it's no real issue for, I was just wondering.
The real issue I see is many times people don't get their 20 dead on. It's usually a yard or 2 off , then that will throw the 40 and 50 off by quite a bit. I see it all the time, my bow shoots flat out to (x) yardage.
When I make sight tapes, I sight in at 20, then move to 50 and fine tune. More often than not, the 50 is off a little. Not to nock this app, I'm sure it works but people need to understand the importance of an exactly set 20 for it to be acurate.
SightTune Currently yes. This is only available for Android. If I get enough requests I will definitely consider an iOS version. I am currently working on that. This app will eventually allow you to pick a custom setup ie. "22, 28, 33, 38, 43", "10, 20, 30, 40, 50". This is just a matter of setting up different linearization models. That is exactly what the app was developed for, just to get it close and provide you with more confidence when tuning in those long range shots. Thanks for the feedback guys!
Just to let all of you know I made some recent modifications to allow control of camera features to make it even easier to use.
Don't know if Lancaster still sells it, but they used to have a piece of paper with the lines on it for sight adjustment. All that was necessary was the speed of the bow and the twenty yard pin set.
