This afternoon my brother hunted a this stand for the 2nd time and had a shot opportunity the first night and second night. (tonight) both shot opportunity as he pulls back the deer take off. He says he pulls back when they are all looking away and he says they all just take off. He also saI'd he pulled back slowly to make sure he didn't scare them. Both nights the the sets of does took off when he was at half draw. The tree is fairly big and bushy so I highly doubt the tree shook. What do you guys think? Sorry for the long read. Just trying to get my lititle brother on a deer to get him hooked on bow hunting with me.
Excuse the typing errors. Tryin to type with my phone. Also he is using a drop away rest with no soft cloth in the rest. Maybe the noise of the arrow against the rest is spooking them..?
His bow is probably making noise somewhere, it happens a lot. Or he's wearing noisy clothes. Does he use a whisker biscuit? They can make noise. I learned a long time ago (the hard way), that everything we use and wear has to be totally silent.
Yes, the arrow dragging on a bare rest can make noise too. Get in a silent room and have him draw his bow.
Get him to draw his bow in his hunting attire while you're standing next to him, you'll probably pick up the noise.
The deer were about 20 yards and I had him pull back and I'm about 90 percent sure it is his rest. May try tomorrow. Wish us luck!!
How light was it? Cause there is a change that maybe his movement made a shadow the deer saw. Just a thought, it had happened to me. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
Draw from the waist when the deer are moving easy to hold and move up to target when the deer are in position.
Yeah the rest could be it. Also is he sure those were the only deer around. I've drawn before thinking I knew where all the deer were only to have 1 bust me that I didn't know was there or that I didn't think could see me from a certain angle.
