Nope, unless you consider taking down the fence around the foot plot after the acorns are gone baiting. I do run a feeding program within the laws of Minnesota.
I guess I'd have to be honest and say "technically yes". We have so many food plots, I put out mineral year around and place corn and feeders out on the farms so one way or another I do in some sort or fashion. I don't hunt directly over anything though, the closest "bait" to any of my stands is a couple hundred yards away. Must not be that much of an advantage as I have not put down a buck yet.
No. It's illegal to bait/feed deer in RI. Like Ty said, not really my style. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have always brought a shopping bag full of corn/mineral/acorns/etc when I go to my stand, Its more or less used as a natural stop sign for better opportunities. I want to run a feeder but would never hunt over it.
In the south we have to depend on feed/food plots because hunting pressure is nuts here and everyone feeds legal or not. I know people say its all about good stand placement and thats very true to but if your neighor feeds and you dont you can bet you wont see deer till rut. But hunting down here all my life feeding and not feeding. This is just what ive learned over the years in our area i'm sure every place is different. If its legal i do and i'll feed protein always in certain areas but not hunt over it, i just do so to improve antler mass. I normally only feed in plots though never in the woods.
I used to do it years ago but it was like shooting fish in a barrel. It isn't legal where I hunt now but I do have a water barrel out, but only because water sources are scarce in the area I hunt. Water barrels are legal.
If feeding ever becomes legal here, I'd turn my attention even more so to hinging cover, sight blocking and create a thick terrain where deer feel safer than on neighbors...more than just depend on a feeder....but a feeder in a property like this would be MONEY!
I have used bait, but rarely. I mostly hunt farm land now and there are crops but nothing that Ive put out. I dont think they would care if I put bait out with all the fields always full of something.
Yep. I want to kill deer and corn helps me do it. I make no apologies for it. Its legal here and EVERYBODY does it. Some of the places I hunt if I didn't put out corn I would never see a deer there because the neighbors do it.
Yep, food plots, apples corn, B&J; anything and everything legal to tip the odds in my favor. To mimic grnhd, if you are not doing in NC you won't be holding/seeing any deer.
