I go check out Archery talks classifieds once in a while and today I realized just how much bigger they are then us here in bowhunting.com. I do really like the smaller community due to getting to know each other better and get some solid knowledge and not all that BS you see going on over there. But what I was wondering is how or why are they just that much bigger (community) then here? Anyone wonder the same thing?

For the most part I would say age and advertising. archery talk was the first forum I joined but did not frequent because it really seemed more to boost people's egos than help people. I found this because of the web show and have been pleasantly surprised ever since then.

Guess I just didn't know when they were both established. If they have been around that much longer then I could see why. When I was looking in the classifieds there were 500+ in that forum alone at that time looking. When I came back here we had 2 in ours. Guess they are on a different level.

Other then the classies, there are some really top notch tuners, string builders ....the dyi threads are awesome.
It's just another place to connect with people.
You have to take the good with the bad on AT...

Same as here, there is good and bad ...you sort through it.

I use it to sell a bow due to great coverage. Have sold all my bows in less than a week.

Classifieds are great on Archery Talk... Unfortunately most of the other stuff on there sucks.
This place is much better. I'm not sure why it's as big as it is.?

Archerytalk was great till around 2006ish then went to pieces. Some of the best, most knowledgeable people on there don't post. There's some world class hunters on there but they quit posting due to all the drama. Some of the top archers in the world use to be members. I swear the average age over there must be 14 now

Terry Martin runs his website much like he ran his bow company, that's all I have to say about that.

I actually enjoy this site more during the off season. Its the same group of hard core guys basically. I also get sick of the "I shot it and cant find it" threads during the season.

    Beat me to it!!!!

This site has a very close core of people. During the off season is when this site is at it's best. During the season, a flood of seasonal people, and a few know it alls show up and the site loses it's appeal to me. The arguing is such a turn off.
AT is Full of nasty arguing and bickering year round over everything.

Do I see you doing better? Martin archery did pretty well for its self in the day, as did Terry.
Say what you want about AT then and now, it's gets traffic and has its uses.
Seems easy to be critical when your on the outside looking in, put some skin in the game ...then talk .

I said that's all I have to say about that. I could expand on how to build a brand up and maintain quality and innovation over time, that is the hard part hiring people who share the vision.

I often compare archery talk to reddit. It is hard to find more judgemental people than those two sites. I visit AT a lot but quickly learned who to avoid and what topics to stay out of. I sold my Experience there and have bought a lot of stuff (including my current bow). But I much prefer this site (well except for the gun kills popping up lately but I just avoid those because I know others enjoy them).
