I have a few new stealth cams (g30, g26, and a unit x). I have put batteries and memory cards in 2 of them (a g30 and a g26) and both come up with an error "card error". Won't let me do anything. The cards are brand new. And I have tried other new cards in them, all have the same error. Anyone have this issue and know how to get it fixed? I have 5 trailcams I can't get working right now, not cool!!
- Make sure the camera is off before inserting the card. - Make sure the slider toggle on the side of the SD card isn't switched to Locked. - Try formatting the SD cards. If those things don't work, contact Stealth Cam support: 877-269-8490 (8am-5pm CST Monday-Friday)GSM Customer Service
It won't let me format the card, it's stuck on the "card error" message. Card is not on lock mode. Will call customer service if no one else has an answer.
I get that every now and again with my cards. Usually taking them out and putting them back in fixes it. What sort of cards are you using?
Did you try rebooting the cameras by taking the batteries out and re-installing? I can't believe you happened to get several cameras that are all lemons and having the same problem so I'm guessing it's something simple.
Cards are Sandisks 4gb. My buddy bad the same issue. He said he just put the cams out anyway and they work but cant set date and time. I have tried all of these cams, they all do the same thing. No clue what the issue is.
Try formatting them on your computer - their may be something on them blocking the stealth cams from working... then go to "CUSTOM" and click format card. I use this everytime I set cameras - regardless if they have anything on them or not. I own 8 NEW stealth cams (G-Series) and have been able to use a variety of SD cards without issue. Good luck!
You win!! That's what I had to do. Annoying because the cards are brand new and no other trailcam I've ever owned (over 40) has ever made me do that. Just stealth. Oh well, the cams have a good rep and its easy to do, so I'll let it slide if that's their only down fall. Excited to get them in the woods.
Yay! Have you updated the firmware on your cams? It's worth checking out. There are good instructions on how and the files needed here: Stealth Cam Drivers & Firmware Updates
I've got 12 G42's and didn't have that issue with a single one of them. I've heard there are knockoff cards that aren't really name brand but look name brand that cause a lot of issues. It could be you got hold of some cheapo knock off cards? I never even format my cards at all, even when I just pull a card from my case and install it and it was formerly in a different brand of camera...they just write a new file on that card. Most of my cards have a moultrie, a covert and a stealth cam file on them where they've been interchanged.
I guess its possible. I ordered them from amazon and would like to believe I got the name brand I paid for. Who knows though. Again the cards worked in every other camera I bought (10 total) this time, just not the 4 stealths. So leads me to believe its something with stealth, not sandisk. At any rate, I have them all working now and was an easy fix, so I can't wait to get them in the woods and let them do their thing!! Picture quality seems great with these 3 models and I'm excited to have them.
Reading reviews on Amazon is actually where I learned that there are knockoff cards that can cause problems. I've never bought any that caused problems from Amazon though and I buy nearly everything there. I'm glad you found a fix at any rate. Yes, the Stealths take pretty good pics. My G42's take insanely good daytime pics and okay night pics. The day pics are the best I've seen actually, you can pick out the fine hairs in a deers coat in the daytime. Night time pics get quite a few flash burn if they are very close to the camera. Overall I love them though.
Well again I can't tell if they are knock offs or not. But these stealth cams are the only ones that ever gave me this issue.
