With the end of the season in sight, I'm starting to consider my goals for the off season. Skill wise, I'm going to work on my effective range. Try and get myself confident enough to take longer shots if they are presented. Move to a 5 pin sight. Equipment wise, I'm looking to upgrade my 20 year old bow to something more modern. New will be the best but I haven't ruled out a good used bow either. That's enough to work on for me. How about you? How are you going to pass the time through the off season?
Scout scout scout. If I can accumulate 10 more good spots to confidently feel I'll have a crack at a good buck I'll be happy.
I'll be scouting this farm i just started hunting this season....trying to figure out where the big ones live...
The past fours we have put out mineral sights and food plots and feel that it has helped produce healthier deer which in turn has led to bigger deer. My goal is to be more intelligent with the placement of the mineral sights and make sure they have what they need.
Scout myself too. I only really have 2 spots to go, and both were a HUGE bust for me this year. I will plant a few plots too
I want to scout a lot more and maybe get a new spot or two to hunt this fall. More and more hunters every year are taking over my spots now. Practice shooting farther distances Get the plots in and do some habitat improvement
Considering making a few upgrades to my bow, like to get a better sight, and drop away rest. Practice a lot more Put in a small hidden food plot.
Food plot & habitat improvement, nailing down buck patterns and trails, increasing my range, maybe shooting some 3D, and shed hunting!
Well we still have 2 months left in our season and our rut hasn't hit yet. So I haven't really thought about it much yet. But probably scout some new areas of the property we have. We have too many lazy people in the club who want to follow you around and hunt the easy way. I want to find the off beaten trails where the big bucks are and get in there and hunt em.
I am going to stay off my hunting grounds. I say this every year, but this year year I am going to stick to it.. My spot is about 15 acres, and every year I put out 4 cams in the spring when I make my mineral sites in April. And then I end up checking them every weekend. Doing this, I think I am running all the deer off my land by the time the season starts in September. This year, I am going to set the cams out in April when I make my mineral sights, leave them sit for week, check them to make sure they are set up ok, and leave them alone until maybe June or July when I freshen my minerals. Then the next time I go out there will be when I go out to check stands right before the season.

Well I want to see what buck made it through gun season. Set some minerals out. Scout the new property I got just as season started. Plant some food plots. And though Jan thro March kill some coyote so before the fawns hit the ground.
