I hit a buck today. Went I got to stand I busted two. But 2 hrs later this buck came through fast. The shot was quartering away he did a high leg kick ran 50 yards then walk another 40 till outta site. No arrow no blood for 50 yards then just specs of blood. Think it was a little back and high. Any advice.

Had the same thing happen to me last weekend. Blood was very little and no arrow, I backed out and came back in the morning to find him 10 mins after arriving. The arrow still in him and he expired not far from where I stopped the night before. Be patient but don't give up you will find him. Good luck!!

My buck this year was quartering but I didn't pass through. Up to fletching and I knew it lodged in opposite shoulder. Blood trail was weak. But didn't go over100. U have a dead deer no doubt. And if u need broad heads to keep hunting I will send u some

Were you in the tree when you shot? If he was quartering away and you hit high and back, out of a treestand.. no doubt thats a dead deer. Even on the ground a quartering away shot is about as deadly as you'll get.

Everyone is right... go get him in the morning and post pics here pronto. :)

You did the absolute right thing in backing out and giving him time. Best of luck!

Well I took my uncle out to help. Has much more experience tracking deer. When he saw the blood he said the buck was still alive. I have to admit buck fever got me good this time. We never found the arrow think I skim him. No hair or blood. This buck came from behind me. Never heard him till 15 yd to my right and I was half asleep. I thought it was squirrel. My heart jump into my throat only the second buck I've seen hunting. And he was on a mission. I tried to stop him but he would not was almost yelling at him lol. Hope I can take a lesson from this. The encounter was awesome with both bucks that came bye the second working a scrap was cool to watch.

If there was blood and no arrow, its still in him and is certainly not a "skim". What reaction did he have when he left the area upon the shot? Deer typically act a certain way on certain types of hits. Not all, but typically.

After it was decided that it was a "skim" did you just stop looking or did you keep searching?

We look for 250 yards he ran 30 yards then walk off till outta site about 100 yards away. Followed some trails but no blood on any trees. We look at the near bye creek.
