the 2014 Kansas rut has been very good to my wife and I. On November 1st I was able to tag my biggest with a bow coming in at 158.125" and my wife was able to harvest her first with a bow coming in at 137.875". Her buck was a bonus deer that showed up on my turnip plot in mid october. She made a double lung pass through shot at 23 yards and watched him drop in sight of the tree. My deer was a buck I have a two year history with named RC (ribcage). Hes is the definition of high and tight, but this year he added tons of mass. I didnt get a lot of pictures of him, but new he was in the area and harvested him at 15 yards on a heart poke. He expired in sight from the tree and only ran about 30-40 yards from where the shot occurred. I have a more detailed account and other pictures of my encounter on my hunting blog It All Came Together BURIED NOCK BOWHUNTINGBURIED NOCK BOWHUNTING | PASSION, DEDICATION, THE ENDLESS PURSUIT if you'd care to check that out. My wife's encounter and more pictures will be posted there next week.
Great bucks! The mass on your buck is crazy. I shot my biggest buck this year, but he wouldn't even come close to yours. Your wife's buck is also a beauty. Good for you both.
Thanks everyone! Definitely a magical season! I'm already looking forward to 2015! As is my wife, I think she is officially hooked now on bowhunting
