I was very surprised and excited to see what Mathews has done this year. I love the idea of the No Cam and I would love to buy one, but sadly I don't have the money, hopefully I can at least shoot one. But back on topic what do you think will happen? Will it be a bust or will it completely change the game for archery? I myself think it will change the game for archery and for this year I think the Mathew's slogan "Catch us if you can" fits the bill.

You'd be okay lugging a 5+ pound bare bow through the woods?

To be completely honest it wouldn't bother me for a few reasons. I would eventually get used to it, and I hunt from a tree or in a blind so it wouldn't bother me a bit. I'm more interested in the HTR so it's only .1 or .2 lbs heavier than the bow I currently shoot.

I'm a little leery of the no cam design. It feels like they went back in an effort to go forward.

I thought the idea was pretty cool and creative, but soon we'll see if it's going to be a bust or a great innovation.

It's essentially a wheel which is what was on bows years ago. Then we moved to the cam, and now back?

I'm not 100% sure how the system works but it kinda reminds me of the AVS system but with two wheels instead of cams.

Yeah but the wheels are still a thing of the past. I think mathews brought it back to be different be revolutionary but they took a step back.

I don't think they took a step back, but to each his (or her) own.

Max, or you could look at the cam as a temporary band aid. The technology wasn't in place to not have a cam, so there had to be a cam, and mathews is the first to figure out how to get performance out of a bow with no cam??? Just a thought. I'm not a mathews salesman

Every one followed them, they did something to catch the consumers eye this year and I think it will work. They can't come out with the next best thing every year but they can come out with the newest thing!

Has Mathews ever made a bow that broke the 340 fps barrier?

Not a matter of strength. I'm well more then strong enough to do it, but it's definitely more convenient to have more then a pound less than while walking through the woods.

But the cam is not a band aid. Binary cams are mirror images of each other just as these are. Both will produce level nock travel. Both are very smooth. Except binaries are faster. And to me that looks like a step back.

I'll be the first to admit that I've always been somewhat critical of Mathews. I just never saw the innovation or ground breaking technology that they always claimed they had. Not to mention the hordes of homers that blindly follow and hang on every single bow they make like its the next best thing.

Anyway. I'm very surprised and intrigued by this bow. Who knows if it will be a bust or the next big thing in archery. But I will give Mathews props for finally getting outside of their comfort zone (solocams) and doing something truly different from their competitors. Now the 1799 MSRP... eh.

That's probably true bit up until couple years ago when they dipped below the 5 lbs bows people got around just fine. Speed and weight are really just numbers people look at that need to be the fastest or lightest or its no good.

There's always something else you can lose that you think you have to have if weight is that important.
