My first buck of the season, on Halloween and with an awesome girl who has been begging me to shoot a deer with her.

The buck walked across the lawn with 2 does. Her and I stood debating whether to go after the deer. She kept on begging me to shoot it. So I agreed, put about a 30 min stalk on him and at 31 yards quartering away shot him.

I knew I had to shoot farther back because of how he was quartered but immediately seeing that lume-nock hit fairly far back I got sick. Thinking I made a bad shot.

The girl I was with saw it go up and over a small rise in a field. Arrow still inside. We followed the blood trail across te road where he was laying. Put another arrow into him and there he lay. My 2nd buck, and on Halloween.

You can see how far back the shot was. I think I got a little lucky. I know I got some lung cause blood was bubbly. And he was just full of bloom inside.

Love those antlers. I gotta ask though... did you shoot it in your yard? Just curious.

Yeah they are really nice! And I shot it on our acreage. Spotted him from our front yard heading into the bush went down and around and cut him off down below where I shot him.
