Turns out I misjudged yardage. He was actually 24 I shot for 20. I was probably close to 35 ft higher than him. The terrain was very tricky. The shot felt good. I heard the smack I lost my arrow flight before it hit so I am very unsure of where it hit. He took my arrow with him when he left although I didn't know that till after I started looking for it. He took 1 hop turned and ran. Where he turned I found 3 drops of very bright red blood. I boogied out of there as soon as I realized he took my arrow and very little blood. The reason I didn't know he had my arrow was that when he jumped and turned the arrowed side was now away from me. I last saw him still running but slowing considerably. He went into a finger of woods that goes up into a field. I never saw him come out the other side but there is a big ditch there so he could have got on that and went wherever he wanted. Not holdng out a lot of hope. Thinking muscle hit and he'll be fine but any words of encouragement/advice or even some constructive criticism would be nice.

Oh yeah I forgot to say I shot at 735. Where I lost visual of him was roughly 80-90 yards from the shot

Leave him sit for a majority of the day and track this evening if you're not confident.

    Good luck.

Give him several hrs then go back in with you and maybe one buddy. Look for blood on your hands and knees if that's what it takes. Look for blood as long as you can before you are sure you can't find anymore. Only after that then call as many people to help grid search. Don't give up. Good luck.

There's an overlook point where I can glass the last field I saw him in and the one he would have went into had he come out of that finger of woods. I'm going to scan that till after lunch see if I can catch him moving around. Now that I'm here might notbe a bad place to take a doe. 2 just walked by while I wasn't paying attention. Although all I need is 1 deer at a time.

Congrats! Always good to find you had a good shot after you thought it was questionable. Good job.
