After reading Justin's post about Hunting too much I did a gut check. I have a 6yr old son and an 18mo little girl. I have been taking my son with me to the blind occasionally for a few years but this year I have had a little less time to hunt so it's been a little more precious. Well I decided just to make it happen. Didn't see a single deer but we had fun. Never mind that I had to leave the stand 20mins before dark to deal with a "potty emergency"And after handing him a "giant" jug of chocolate milk he said, "this was the best day ever!" what are some of your stories about hunting with your kids? How did you pass on the passion and get them to be successful in the field? That is awesome! I take my son ground hunting and will soon be taking him in my two man ladder stand. He gets upset when I go hunt by myself in my climber. 10689716_902995423044267_3045298568730332853_n.jpg 10704169_901784656498677_7286025185803228465_n.jpg IMG_7744.jpg 1010487_902995509710925_3379395222198786061_n.jpg He also helped me track the buck I got on Tuesday. He is a hard core hunter already at almost 3!

Took my 7 year old step son to the blind for the first time. We didn't see a thing. Then later when grandpa asked how it went, he said, "it was fun but next time we have to go on Wednesday. I guess they don't come out on Tuesdays." Fair enough.

I am 22 years old and still think it is important to hunt with your dad or any family member sometimes. We focus so much on killing deer that we hunt by our selves so much. Last year I killed out and went one morning to just sit with my dad and forgot how much fun it was and how much I missed it.

just wait till the shoe is on the other foot...
me and my cousin hunt with our dads (they're brothers.) They're getting on, and can't pull vertical bows anymore, and honestly shouldn't be in the woods by themselves (both have heart issues.)

Now it's us who hang their (gianormous sturdy/heavy 2 man) stands; and we track, gut, and haul their deer - and we enjoy every minute of it. They taught us everything they knew, and a lot of stuff they didn't know. They spent so many hours dealing with us complaining about the cold, getting fidgety, talking out loud. I have no idea how many hunts I "ruined" for him as a kid, and he never got mad.

Take a kid hunting. Eventually, they pay you back.

I applaud all you guys who take their sons and daughters out with them. I have tried but my 3 teenage girls have about as much intrest in hunting as I do when they are watching Dancing with the stars!!!!!!! Keep up the good work with your kids.

I'll have to shrink the pic's and get them posted on here. One of them is my avatar on here and another is my profile pic. There are many more that include shed hunting. Those are moments I'll never forget!!!

My daughter doesn't mind eating the venison, she flat out refuses to hunt. My four year old tells me daily all he wants to do is "hunt from a ground blind wif you daddy. tree stands are for when im super old like you." I cant wait til he can pull his own bow back and really shoot one.

This weekend will be the first time my daughter will be deer hunting. I've taken her out a couple times in the past, but she is hunting for the first time this weekend. She's 11 years old and I'm finally confident she has a chance of being successful. We set the blind up yesterday afternoon over looking my clover plot. I think we have a real good chance and can't wait!
