okay guys i just shot a doe tonight! When i got out of the tree to get the arrow i found it... about 10 inches of penetration bright red blood but alot of white hair and meat on the broad head. What does this mean? I planned on waiting 2.5 hours to go look for her what does that arrow say about the hit and how long should i wait
i aimed right behind the front shoulder but i think i may have shot low i aimed high with my 10 yard pin i shoulda went with the 20
I hate to say this but in my experience, white hair means you hit her low. It's possible you didn't hit any vitals. You need to let her lay as long as you can. I'm talking several hours. If you push her or let her know a human is involved, she'll be gone.
Probably means a single lung shot hitting her low and exiting out the brisket or just a brisket hit. You're probably going to have a good blood trail and her either piled up or the blood will stop after about 100 yards and she'll survive. All depends how much damage is done to the one lung. That's my guess.
i was really hoping to get out there tonight again and look on the account of school tommaro but i should be able to miss
Ya do what you can to give her the night. Ive made the mistake of bumping them out once before and never again. If its questionable like this dont let them see you or I feel like something clicks with them making them feel hunted and they run forever.
found the arrow about three feet from where it hit her not a pass through about 10 inches of penetration
So the doe took off like hell or hunched up? Either way it sounds like the arrow came out the opposite side if you found it that close. Ive heard that sound many times. Thwap
With white hair, I'd bet you had a pass through. Unless you were on the ground or she was higher than you in a stand. Specifics on the shot would help tremendously. Height, yardage, angle, broadhead etc... White hair is generally under the deer or chest/brisket
sorry i cant on this laptop, it is a school issued one it wont let me, it was bloody about 10inches back covered in white hair and there iwas meat and fat on the broad head
temps are good. if you can skip school id go looking in the morning. if water is close id say that shes headed that way. just follow as much blood as you can that's all you can do. you don't want to bump a wounded deer tonight. 50/50 chance youll find her
I went in to early before. She was laying 50 yards from my feeder. When she saw me, she got up and ran. We spent the next 2 days looking for her and never found her. It made me sick that I had left a wounded deer in the field and I vowed that I would try to never let that happen again. If your not sure, you have to wait. At 40 deg. she'll keep.
