Crazy day for sure yesterday. My alarm went off around 430. I went to the porch and opened the door only to be greeted by driving rains a howling winds. Checked the weather and it was supposed to subside by midday. I thought cool, afternoon is going to be a good sit with a west wind. Fast forward to 1pm. Winds were still blowing pretty hard but forecasted to die down all afternoon. I climbed into the stand around 2pm and settled in. As I was rooting around in my back I felt something fall out and crash to the ground. Looked down to see my camcorder laying there. Great... I just destroyed it. No way it survived the 20ft flight to the ground. Sit went pretty uneventful and the wind didn't die out until close to dark. 9 deer total with a small basket 8. So, on my way home I cam around the corner and out comes the bear. Locked up, sliding as its running across in front of me. I did my best "Days of Thunder" maneuver, pointing the truck at where is *** was hoping it wouldn't be there by the time I got to the spot. THUMP... Well, thankfully I was only doing about 5-10mph by the time I bumped into him. No damage at all and the bear apparently escaped unscathed as well. Aside from a completely ruined pair of underwear and a banged up camcorder, it wasn't a total loss. It just wasn't my day.
Matt, I'm telling ya, if it wasn't for the bears haunting me every season, I'd be bored out there. They're stepping up their game this season. Last year they went after my trailcams, this year, my less than year old truck! I do believe some form of retaliation is in order...
