Well I shot my 2nd ever doe tonight at 5:45. I almost didn't go out tonight just because Ive been hunting hard all weekend and I was pretty tired. I went to a set where at sat in the morning and didn't see anything. It's down in the corner of a field with some corn still up. She came from my left where I was expecting her from. She was moving quick though. I had my bow hanging up and she was about 15 yards away and stopped and looked away so I grabbed my bow. Then she go closer and now she can go right into the field to feed or left towards another field of corn and timber. She went left but stopped at 6 yards looked away and I drew back.m and put the pin on her and squeezed.

After the shot she didn't run off she just walked really slow in the the thicket. I lost her after about 20 yards. The arrow looked pretty good. I let her sit for about 45 minutes before it started to rain so I decided to go look. I found blood spots here and there for about 50 yards then nothing at all. So my buddy and his dad came to help me out. we searched all over for about a half hour until we pretty much grid searched this thicket. We found her about 10 yards from last blood and she went straight through this really a thick stuff and I wasn't expecting that so we came in from behind that and ended up finding her. It was about 60 yards total.

Entrance wasn't bad, exit is low but I expect that with how close the shot was. It got a little plugged up which is why there was more blood. She bled well in the last 5 yards though.

Here is where I was sitting. She came from the left. [IMG]

Thank you. I'm looking forward to having some meat in the freezer now. It was a little difficult at first and it got frustrating because at last blood she could've went down and crossed the creek, left up into the corn or right and through thick stuff like she did. So it was difficult but we found her and I'm happy. :tu:

Close deer can be a tough blood trail... even on great hits. Way to wait it out before tracking... Nearby thickets are nearly always the right place to look.

Thanks. I'm glad I got a doe down pretty early so I can focus on that buck now.
