I have a mature big 6pt that's on my hitlist. I posted him here before. Well he broke off a large amount of his main beam on one side. Now I'm not sure I'm interested in shooting him. Was wondering what your thoughts are, both on this buck but also in general. If one of your hitlist Bucks broke like this, would he be off the list or still a shooter? image.jpg

I would say if your not interested in shooting him than he isn't a shooter!! I will say if he walks by me I would be flinging an arrow!!

I had the same thing happen to my target buck a few years ago and I let him walk. I had a perfect opportunity to take him during late muzzleloader season and chose not to. I was fortunate to take him the next season with a bow. To each his own.

If you would still be happy if you killed him then I say go for it.

If you are happy with him, shoot him. If it were me, I would look at how many other bucks i had in the area and how likely he is to make it to next year. if the odds are good, i would pass him until next season.

If it is about the hunt then shoot him! If it is about a trophy then shoot him and take him to a good taxidermist and he can repair the broken beam. So what I am saying is if he on the hit list that would not stop me.

Not sure I have bigger but I do have other shooters. 1 or 2 might be bigger especially now. This buck was by far the one I was most excited about though and he shows up A LOT! Day and night and every spot Ive had cams. So I was extra excited about him. Not sure now cant decide. Guess Ill decide if he shows up when I have a bow in hand lol. Is he still considered a 6pt?

Where I hunt there's no doubt that I am shooting him.
