I often see flocks of Turkeys when I am deer hunting and in Michigan the Fall Turkey season runs from September 15 - November 14. I have often thought about buying a license and shooting a turkey while deer hunting. Have any of you guys done this or do you do this? What are your thoughts?

I do this in PA. Not sure about Michigan. I'd check to make sure it's legal.

I always do this here in Kansas. I believe a high percentage of birds are taken in the fall from the tree-stand.

You can in Pa as long as you are wearing the required orange for hunting fall turkeys.

Only if it's on our property. Never pay the 24 bucks for a fall turkey tag .

Turkey tags are included with our archery deer tags in Missouri, so yes. I have had multiple opportunities at turkeys from the tree stand. Blew it every time though :)

At least part of the time I plan on doing it in the opposite direction. Me and the boy will hunt turkey because he can't draw enough weight to take down a deer yet but if I get a shot at a nice deer, I'm gonna take it.

Do you not need a tag on your own property? Or do you just not care? :)

I should. Saw two really nice toms last week 10 yards from stand.

Yep I buy a fall Turkey tag. Have only killed one from the stand though, seems like they bust you so much easier while in a tree!

Got my Fall Turkey license for MI, I don't see why you wouldn't unless you were hunting state land.

5 bucks here in Illinois and we have lots of turkeys so I take the cheap gamble. Haven't got one yet though.

I always pickup my fall turkey tags. Killed a few while deer/turkey hunting. I periodically call every 15-20 min's when I'm in the stand and the deer do not seem to pay it any mind. The last one I killed came in strutting and gobbling the whole time.
