Just venting... had my camera stolen in a new spot. Put it up a month and a half ago on run. Had a couple of bucks and does on it last card pull. Went in last night to check again and found that someone had stolen it. I'm on private property, but it is not posted. Very discouraging.. I just hope that it is not a fellow hunter doing this... sign everywhere as well... was very optimistic about the card pull.
I put another camera lower down the ridge towards the house with hopes that it will be there next week when I check it.
It was a nice Cuddeback Attack IR too... grrrrrrrrr

Just curious, is it your property or do you have land owner permission?

Was it locked? All mine are in welded steel housings with cable or chain locks and I am also on private land but lock everything to avoid this. Sorry to hear you got ripped off. Thieves suck.

Have you checked with the land owner? Maybe there was some type of communication breakdown and he's got another hunter out there scouting for firearms season or something. If nothing else I'm sure he'd want to know if he's got trespassers and thieves running around.

I left them a message... waiting to hear back... last I knew I was the only one.. Not a very big piece... just 10 acres.
abutts a large piece that noone can hunt... but I'm sure people sneak into...

Man that SUCKS! I hate a thief. I don't take any chances on property that is private, but remote. I lock all of mine. It sucks that we have to do things like this, but it is necessary.

Wouldn't make much difference if it was locked, only it may slow them down. Sure sucks!!

Be a shame if they would happen to step on or fall in a hole with a old board with nails sticking out of it that was in the ground next time they go near a camera... not that anyone would do such a thing to booby trap their personal property and all. Just saying.
BTW, I know how you feel, had one stolen from me too on my property, lock them things up.

hey guys, i hav bought a 3ft ladder just to hang cameras,i am 5'11 so that makes my cameras 8-9ft off the ground....
i tilt them down and i dont miss a thing that moves around the area...
i hav had people walk right under them and around them and never knew i got their picture....

question is how many people really look up in the woods ???? unless you are squirrel huntn or lookn for a tree to put up a stand,
most people look straight forward or down at ground.....

just an idea for you all to think about.....russ

Sounds like you should get one that sends pictures to your phone and lock it up at least then if some thief tries to steal it you'll have pictures of them and evidence to take to the landowner and authorities. just a thought you may get your other cameras back in the process

Got me again. N Newaygo Co, Home township near Bitley. My daughter bought me a 59.00 wildgame innovation camera 3 weeks ago. She helped me with a hang on stand and screw in tree steps, bait, and then hang the cam on 40 acres we just acquired permission to hunt. Opening day went to the stand and the pull rope was gone, bottom 4 steps missing as well as the cam. I'm 99.9% certain that it was the neighbor as he asked a lot of questions about previous trail cam pics and general areas where we were getting good pulls. He left the top 5 steps, why I don't know, as well as the stand because I had a padlock on it. Just a part of hunting I guess.
