I used to hunt a property for few years. Couple of years ago I was asked not to hunt that property because some guys was going to hunt that area which that was ok. I got permission to hunt it again While I was scouting I found a deer stand that the guy left behind nothing fancy looks like homemade still in good shape. My question is would use you move it to a new location and use it? I dont think the guy that used to hunt the property hasn't been there for the last couple of seasons. Nobody even knows how to get hold of him
When in doubt just ask the property owner. Sounds like he favored him once before, so why chance a future problem even if very unlikely.
The property owner shes out of state. My ex wife father has it leased for hey for the last 8 years or so. He pretty much has the rights to hunt which he gives me permission to hunt. The only time we dont hunt it is when her sons or grandson want to hunt which they havent hunted there in years. I believe this guy that used to hunt was friends with her husband which he passed away couple of years ago. This guy only hunted there couple of years ago I dont think he hunted last year. I was going to move it just a few trees away from where it is now.
I would hunt it in its current location a few times before I even considered moving it. Might be in a killer spot. Probably wouldn't move it. Not worth the chance of it backfiring against you.
Yeah, I wouldn't move it. No reason to risk it back firing like the guy above said. I would leave it and act like it wasn't even there.
That was my first thought not to move it. The stand is just to close to the deer trail and doesnt have much cover to hide me. I Just going to buy me another stand and put it little further away from the trail. Thanks for the input guys.
This X100 for sure!! The pervious landowner who owned my land left a few old stands, they are some great spots!
