And completely goes against everything I know to be true. So I know three people who all hunt southern Georgia, and recently I just went with them for the first time.

All three of them woke up and did their morning routine, eating something, getting there coffee etc.. We all started getting dressed, they leave there clothes hanging out on the porch at night..

So as I'm spraying myself down with no scent after a shower etc head to toe, I look over and they are passing around what appears to be a vintage bottle of BRUTE aftershave, and putting it on the bottom of their boots.....

I'm like wtf are you guys doing, the reply was we do this every hunt. I'm staggered, and kinda of I don't even know how to put it.. these guys hunt and they don't hunt food plots or feeders, they set trail camera's and pick good spots and they are constantly killing deer... Now mind you, they don't even bother to check the wind!

So, what do you all think of this? ever hear of anyone else doing it? what could be the reason, I'm literally floored.

I guess the question is, what is really in the bottle?

I've heard of wd40 on fishing lures, but it was legitimate brute aftershave I could smell it ... they stunk to high heaven.. Completely ridiculous I don't know what to think hah.

If they are constantly killing deer I guarantee they play the wind. Heck they could put gasoline on the bottom of their boots as long as they play the wind.....

Deer are afraid of human scent. Not aftershave. Or gas. Or soap. Or cigarettes. Those things may put a deer on alert, but they aren't going to send them running for the hills like human scent will. And if you're playing the wind it won't matter anyways.

Hmm, if it was truly Brute, it's mostly isopropyl and ethyl alcohol... But I'm passing... unless they have a great track record.

It doesn't surprise me. If a deer is up wind and doesn't walk across their walk in trail they wont know they are there. I don't understand WHY they would do it but it doesn't surprise me they still kill deer.

    And that post makes 1000:nana:
