What would your ratio be of number of deer you see in the woods vs. number of deer you shoot?
I would say my ratio is 3 to 1

I put 7:1. I am fortunate to hunt a place that has a ton of deer. I have watched up to over 100 deer in the field at once. I try to be very selective about what I shoot though. It makes for some tough hunting at times, but I love watching all the deer too.

7:1 easily, like Snake the farm I hunt is loaded with deer. Unlike Snake though they are all does.

Lots of deer in my area. I have hunted 4 times this year. Two mornings and two evenings. In all I've seen 31 deer while on stand thus far and killed 1 doe. Of the 31 I've seen 5 were bucks and of the 5, 1 was a shooter, at 105 yards...

I picked 4:1. The last few years my sightings have been down in Pa. I see a lot of deer in Ohio but if I average it out I'd say 4:1.

This poll might not be too scientific b/c people who limit their harvest to a couple deer a year will have disproportionate ratios. I only shoot 2-3 deer/year and see dozens and dozens that I choose not to shoot. I picked 7:1+.

And are we talking deeer you see and are in range but you choose not to shoot, or deer you see 200 yards away on a field?

Easily more than 7:1. I will generally see at least 3 or 4 deer per sit, sometimes more. I will most likely only take one doe and one buck during the season. I spend a lot of time watching and learning about their behavior.

I am probably at 20:1 just because I don't shoot many deer, but I'm hoping that changes!

I wasn't looking to get too detailed into this, I was really just wondering how many deer people see while hunting and if it was a low number like mine do they tend to not be as picky on what they shoot. Where I hunt in FL and GA, my hunting buddy and I are not too picky on what we shoot because we only see a limited number of deer a year and really go hunting in hopes to just see a deer! Last year I saw only 6 deer the whole season and I got lucky and shot two of those(A doe and a 7pt).

I'd say 50:1-ish. I see a lot of does and small bucks each year but typically only shoot 1-2 deer.

I would be more interested in finding out how many shooter bucks a person sees versus how many they shoot (or shoot at) in a year. I've always had a pretty good ratio of seeing them to getting a shot. I'd say probably 2:1 in that department.

Didn't vote , the ratio doesn't go high enough .

I have stands that I expect to see at least 10 deer every time I sit in them and have a couple where 30-50 every sit is a possibility . We only shoot 5 a year .

Agreed, mine would be in the tens to 1 ratio probably similar to Justin's 50:1.

As far as shooter ratios, I'd say for the average or slightly above average antler hunter, I'd be in the top range. Last year being my first year back into it, I saw what would be shooters for the average + hunter probably 10 times for every one I harvested...which was two bucks. That also pretty much falls in line with my camera results ratio wise.

Closer to 400:1 for me or maybe 800:1. Last year I passed 17 different bucks. I had a 25 yard or less shot at a legal buck 45 times. Saw lots of does. AND shot ZERO. There were days I saw 5 buck and 10 does in one afternoon. But I am hunting with the philosophy I will never shoot a great buck if I shoot a good buck and go home. Biggest buck of my life or nothing. I guess I rely on the rest of my family for dinner.

so far the season has been open for 3 days and I have seen 6 deer(2 shooter bucks and 4 doe). Havent had one enter into a clear shot yet, so my ratio is 6:0.

So far this season I've seen deer on every sit, except the two when I bumped deer going in. I see 3-7 deer most times. I would be shooting a higher ratio, but I've been trying to get one on film. A couple nights ago I missed several opportunities due to fumbling with cameras, and eventually drawing with my harness in the way.
Next doe who walks into my shooting range is going to get it though!

Zero seen, zero Shot.. Got to love opening week of Florida on the full moon phase. Might as well be ghost hunting.
