I hunt in an area in Minnesota that lets us shoot only 1 deer period with any weapon. I have never been able to shoot anything early season, (not that I don't have plenty of chances) but I don't want to end my season so early. What would you do??
Most of Minnesota only lets you take one deer with any weapon. I think there are only 4 zones that let you take more than one deer, other than the metro unlimited zone. I wasn't going to shoot anything that didn't have a good sized rack today. The fortunes of deer hunting made it easier on me by not seeing anything.
If I had a deer I wanted to shoot in range early, I would take the shot and look into neighboring states to extend my season. It's why I started hunting in Ohio (I can hunt on Sunday's there and their bow season is much longer so I get more time in the woods).
Wisconsin does offer a half price tag to those who have not purchased a license in the past, both firearm and archery.
Being done early is a good problem to have I will not hesitate to pull the trigger if a buck comes into range and has me going.
^^^^absolutely!^^^^ I would rather have that problem than trying to find a good "tag soup" recipe! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think everybody pretty well summed it up, if a deer walks in front of you that makes you happy....shoot it no matter what the date is.
Tag out now so you're not spending entire days on stand when it's 10 degrees out... I'm in mn and have the same rules. Shoot if it makes you happy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I feel the same way. Unless I have a big old bruiser buck walk by me early season, I ten to wait until after the rut. I just enjoy sitting in my stand.
