I'm glad my state doesnt stir up any publicity when it comes to DIY hunts, more deer for me and my fellow CT hunters. We may not have bucks the size of the mid west, but we have a lot of deer, and a lot of mature bucks that I doubt many horn hunters would let walk. I like hunting in CT
It's not as cheap as it says to hunt Kansas. I live here. Base license is cheap, but throw in tag costs and it's considerably more. I spent $77 a few days ago to deer hunt. Given, the Fort Riley ($30) permit was added into that, but it didn't include the cost of my hunting license from this past spring. $45 was spent on an any deer any season tag and a doe tag. With my combo hunt/fish license and two turkey tags this spring cost $61. I'm from Arkansas. It cost $35 to have 6 deer tags (2 bucks included) and 2 turkey tags for an Arkansas hunting/fishing license. I'm just not used to spending so much to hunt and fish. Hopefully, it pays off.
Georgia has some solid bow only hunting around Atlanta, and in the southern zones. Doesn't really surprise me it's on the list. I do think Iowa was too low.
Cool, I live on the state line between #'s 18 and #1 and get to hunt as a landowner in both...I guess I can't ask for much more than that! The MO buck featured in the article was killed less than 40 miles southeast of me. I drive past that guys job site about once a week (Nevada Welding Institute). There's a cool story that goes along with that deer too.
I'm surprised NY didn't show up on the list, it's quickly becoming a sleeper state for big bucks. Of course not in high numbers though.
lol, no not this time. From what I've seen and the people I've talked to. again, not in high numbers though.
It's not, we have a 7-10 county section in western NY that is decent ...the few other county's that produce bucks of any size are bow only areas with access that is near impossible to get. NY is terrible for the most part.
