I was hoping to get some opinions on the R.A.K packages. My son just put a deposit on the Bowtech Fuel after deciding he wanted to bow hunt and shoot 3D, so now I have the itch to get back into it myself. I have always shot Darton bows and really like the Bowtech lineup, but their flagship bows are a little steep right now. Thank's in advance!
No experience with bow tech bows, but we have had 2 of their sister brand (diamond) Both did exactly what they were supposed to. For the most part Diamond seems to be bow Tech's single can line up. The fuel and the infinite edge seem to share the same riser as do the knight and the cure. At least to me it seems. First thing I would do is get rid of the octane rest for a WB or a drop away.
The Assassin is awesome but they did stop making them. The RAK is OK. The sight and quiver are decent. The Hostage rest is junk, at least mine was. Set screws stripped, felt fell off, not very good.
I shoot a Diamond Core. Love this bow. the limbs are 40lb-70lb so since it was my first bow, i was able to start low and work my way up in poundage. i did take the crap rest off and put a wb on it. i also got a great deal on a truglow 5 pin so i have that on it as well. definitely a great first bow!
I have been checking that one out as well! It received a good review in Outdoor Life too: Bow Test 2014: OL Ranks and Reviews 10 New Compounds | Outdoor Life
Soot the Mission Craze or the Hoyt Igniter or Charger can't remember which. My son shot them both. He like the Mission. He said the Hoyt felt heavy.
I'm a bowtech guy so naturally I bought my daughter a diamond infinite edge. Came with everything but arrows & she loves it. If your not looking to spend a lot of $ the RAK packages are a good deal. If your looking for top end accessories you will have to look elsewhere. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No "may", they did. The Carbon Knight replaced them. I have an Assassin and love it. They were the best selling bow in Bowtech's history (straight from Bowtech's site). You still may be able to find a left over though at a good price.
When I finally stepped up from my 1970's compound I bought a 2007 Diamond Rock bow package at bass pro for about 400 bucks. excellent bow that gave me all I needed out the door to hunt and a few months later harvested a 150# boar at 30 yards. Used that bow for several years before my wife got me a new one and that Rock is still my backup. Those bow packages from Diamond or Bow Tech are a great way to get going and very reasonable.
Do it: I love my Bowtech Tribute a few years old but still shoots dots! Almost bought a new Carbon Knight but they could not get it in before the season started. My boy has a Diamond Razors Edge. The key is buy a bow any bow great Father son time. Pastor Scotty
That's exactly what I'm going for. I checked out the "flagship" bows which are awesome but... $$$$! The Carbon Knight (or the Carbon Cure) seemed like a good compromise IMO! Thank's again for all your input!
Carbon knight seems to be a pretty good middle ground. Then again I've learned bows that light are harder to keep on target. The RAK packages are a decent place to get started, but some hunting on ebay can probably get you a better setup for a little bit more cash.
Be sure to check out the Hoyt charger if you get a chance, it is one of the best values out there. Lot of bow for the money.
I've shot/worked on Bowtechs and Diamonds for the last 8 years. In my opinion Bowtech's are nicer than Diamonds, not that Diamond bows aren't nice I just think there is a big difference in the two. I like the way dual cam bows draw and shoot. I think Diamonds are a little loud and have some hand torque when the shot breaks. Both bows are very easy to work on and tune. They do not however have the best customer service. Also packaged bows come with basic accessories mostly made of plastic, you will out shoot those accessories they are not meant to last.
Bowtech bows are great IMO. I would stay away from the RAK accessories though and get a whisker biscuit and a not so expensive sight like a trophy ridge.
I picked up a Carbon Knight just after they dropped the price and I love it. It is very sensitive to my grip though. I just took my first deer with it this morning and it was awesome.
