Alright guys, I have been shooting for a long time so my form is pretty developed and I don't have any accuracy problems. I have always used one of the cheaper Trufire releases and never had a problem but Ive always wondered if I would shoot any better with a more expensive release. I have been looking at the hurricane model. My question is: Is buying a more expensive customized release gonna do anything for me? IN my professonal opinion, I was thinking that a buckle release might give me a more consistent feel than the velcro release that I use.
I just let my old TruFire Hurricane release go... and purchased a new TruFire Edge. I like the Edge better because of its slim design.
The buckle strap will give you more consistency. And the trigger will be so much more consistent and clean on a nicer model. I went from a cheap release to a spot hogg release. After shooting the spott hogg for awhile I tried my old release and couldn't do it. I couldn't believe I was able to be consistent with it. I felt as though I had to mug the trigger just to get it to release. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I've used a TruFire Assassin with the Velcro closure since I got my bow in march. I also have another one my dad gave me and didn't like that's supposed to be "one of the nicer ones" and it just felt weird. If you can hit your mark and do everything you want to do shooting, I personally don't see the point in changing anything. The only reason I would go to the buckle closure is I do notice sometimes I don't always get mine seated in the same place on my wrist sometimes. I like the buckle for that but I'd try to find as close to the same release as I have now, just with the buckle instead.
A good trigger can make a world of difference. Most triggers on cheaper releases are junk and won't allow you to get into the trigger without it firing prematurely. A good trigger like what is on the carter releases allow you to pull through the aim without worry of a misfire. I HIGHLY recommend a carter wrist release like an rx1. They are $120+ but are well worth the price imo.
I have the Trufire Hardcore max, and I think it is one of the best releases you can buy period. You can adjust how far the trigger travels and the trigger pull weight (3-16 oz). If you prefer a long heavy release to do it slowly and go the surprise fire route you can set it up that way. If you want a really light and short pull for a quick tap, you can do that as well. Plus it has a comfortable strap and buckle (no noisy Velcro), and the release can fold back along your wrist so that you don't make noise banging it on your ladder as you climb. Their warranty is outstanding, and the product is made here in the US. It's just like a gun. The better and more precise your trigger, the more accurate you can be. Probably one of the best investments I have made in my hunting setup.
Forget TRU Fire all together, spend the money and buy a Carter and see what you've really been missing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have the Tru Fire Hurricaine Extreme Buckle Web. I wouldn't consider a $45 release to be "an expensive" one. But I really love it, it does not chew up the d-loop like I've seen some others do, and Im constantly changing or adding glove layers and no velcro is the way to go.
Changed from my old Tru Fire this year and went to a Scott buckle release. I couldn't be happier! It just feels a lot smoother to me. Team 14!!!!
same here I have the Scott samurai an it just feels better all around then my old release very adjustable an it made me more accurate imo
I agree 100% I always love the look on people's face when I let them use my carter. They are the only wrist releases I have personally shot that have a trigger that is comparable to a high end hand held. The interchangeable spring system imo is a cut above as well.
Yep, I've tried pretty much everything... Carter is the best you can buy Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The like Mike is one I want to try. (Triple sear)Problem is it is a long head release and I need a short one.
^^^what he said. Love mine but I like my release a little me forward and light. But that's the great thing about that release. You can customize it to what you do best with. Plus no Velcro to make noise and it folds back so you can keep in on your wrist but have you hand free.
I second that. The buckle style releases give you way more consistency. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
carters are the best, but the trufire isint to bad either, definatly get a new realease the trigger will be way better
