Ok guys everyone says i have great target form but some guys are saying i should shorten my draw a half inch to inch to get more bend in my arm for hunting. Thoughts? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
1/2"?? I can't see the big difference. If you shoot well with your current length. You can hold it comfortably and tilt your hips downward etc to shoot down hill. Then it's fine.
It's all about what you feel confident with try it if you don't like it go back to what you were doing if any store charges you to shorten your draw length half an inch I wouldn't go back there anymore haha
Well, put on your hunting coat and shoot. See if there's any contact with the sleeve. If not, you're fine. If there is, there are plenty of ways to secure your sleeve out of the way without changing your DL.
^^^^I wouldn't change anything. if you need to put an arm guard over your hunting jacket or coat, use one but, try it before you hit the woods. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Try shooting in odd positions, sitting, kneeling, twisting, leaning etc. If you struggle, then you may need to shorten your draw length. I assume this is what they were meaning. Getting behind the shot is usually associated with going longer on draw length for better alignment in a target scenario.
1/2" is ALOT and most good target shooters can tell the difference in an 1/8" Most hunters might not know the difference but most can probably tell they shoot one better than the other.
^^^ EXACTLY ^^^ Everyone should shoot with their hunting coat on prior to hitting the woods - for this reason.
Shortening to avoid hunting clothes contact is good advice. Also if you don't get a chance to bend at the waist properly in a tree, being a little shorter will always help you hold a little steadier on a deer...
You may feel comfortable at your currant draw length. As I did in mine and I shot well. I shortened it a 1/2 inch and found I shoot even better. Would have never known till I tried it. Hutch
Hats as well. I don't always wear a hat but I do when I'm hunting, therefore I do when I'm shooting. The presence of lack thereof of a hat can change the relationship of your head and string. In regards to the original post, I wouldn't change my draw length, I would practice and find other ways to make it work.
