This time of year is notorious for having stands stolen... I hope you can catch them in the act.

    Sucks dude.
Guess it's that time of year again where we start seeing more of this.
Really sucks that people just won't leave others stuff only.
    Good luck getting some retribution.

I once had a thievery problem of inventory at work. I was pretty sure it was inside job. I installed a security camera that was well hidden, so I thought.

The next time they struck, they took the camera as well.

    Hide it well.

Shame him when you cantch him on camera by placing the photos around town, ie. Bars, Post office. A $100 theft wont probably be persued to much. Public shame will be worse. Just my opinion. Still B.S.

Hope you get them I agrea with kennyg I would post their pic every where just to make an example of them. It sucks you can't have any thing with out some one wanting it. I have walked by climbers tree stands and many more things and left them. I wish honesty and integrity still stood for something.

its a term called honesty...I have walked by a billion treestands in my life..never took one of them...I got a feeling its either omish down here or a local...either way im not going to get so hot-headed about this that I do something stupid..a 100.00 hang-on aint worth it...but let me tell everyone of you right now...IF ANY ONE OF YOU WAS ON MY LEASE HUNTING AND I SEEN YOUR STAND HANGING IN A TREE...WELL....YOU WOULD FIND IT JUST WHERE YOU LEFT IT...UNTOUCHED...AND STILL HANGING..

I have not seen many stands personally, though I have seen a few. I could not even contemplate stealing. I have been lucky the last few years as far as having a 'few' things to be able to hunt. As I am no longer able to work, money is hard to come by. If by chance any of my stuff were to be stolen, I would not be able to hunt. Period.
Take 'em to the cleaners. Good luck.

If it was on private property he would also face trespassing charges. And I agree shaming him would be very effective.

So he is on your land also? Maybe some other charges could be brought up on him or her.

Brother, I'm a Police Officer and anytime I get a case like this, I exhaust all measures to help my fellow hunters get their gear back. Good luck.

Note: Always mark your gear in a discrete location with a wood burner or other permanent etching tool so that if located, it can be easily identified by the Police. Also, take pictures of your gear and keep them in a folder on your computer. This includes pictures of your discrete markings as well. Police can log these pictures in their case files and give them to pawn shops. I usually put my driver's license number on my gear.
