How much to worry about scent in a heavy populated area?

A few of the places I hunt are small pieces of woods within neighborhoods or very close to heavily populated areas. In areas like this, how important do you guys think scent control is compared to big woods hunting. Is there a difference in the way deer react since they are use to the every day smell of people and cars and such. I go threw the same steps no matter where I am hunting but would just like to hear some opinions on it.

They still arent used to people inside their areas of comfort, I would still play the wind

I would think it would be the same. It doesn't matter if it is 3 acres or 300 acres deer know where there comfort zone is and when something is there that shouldn't be!!

Play the wind and keep scent to a minimum.

The only exception might be, if they are so tame they associate your scent with food/feeding time. Of course, then they are pets....

I hunt a doe reduction area that is heavily populated & I still practice scent control/playing the wind but I find I can get away with much more movement/noise in the stand/blind. I often times take my kids with me to this area & I have been amazed how much more I can get away with there vs. My other spots.

I agree. The deer I hunt in the suburbs are a lot less cautious than the deer I hunt on public land.

No matter where I am at...I will still practice the most scent control I can because I want to be as non-existent as possible. Some wary and old mature bucks won't like it whether they live in a crowded park or a huge national forest.

CJ, I hunt some little secluded spots like this too sometimes and just like everyone else is saying....be safe play the wind and make sure to use all normal scent control as you usually do. Many think cause its a highly populated area that they wont care but they are in that little secluded pocket for a reason and its cause they feel safe there don't want to throw anything off.
