no guys, i am not hunting illegally..haha. ive been so eager to run out and get the blood flowing for hunting season. what better way to do this early than hunt a nuisance? im in south louisiana, and nutria rats are everywhere! these past few days ive walked a levee behind his house. so far ive knocked out 7 nutrias in 2 days. even though they are a nuisance, im still trying my hardest to make clean, ethical kills. just wanted to share..what have you guys done to make the excitement more intense during this pre-season??
Just shooting a few times a week, scouting, working on food plots on my friends farm in Ohio, and checking trail cameras keep me pretty excited. I used to bow fish and that is a lot of fun too but I haven't done that in a few years.
this year is gonna suck..just found out due to a financial situation out of my control I will not be able to hunt this year period...sucks but such is the way when you try to plan something
just a lot of bills and stuff that I have got to get taken care of not to mention I don't have even close to what I need to hunt..no guns, not cocking device for my crossbow no broadheads etc..etc..etc..you get the picture..oh well it is quite alright ..im not gonna worry just wait till next year..till im more financially stable
I would think you could find broadheads and a cocking rope for very cheap. Other than that all you would really need is your license and tags. Where there is a will, there is a way. I hope it all works out for you to get out this year.
not too mention I just found out that people are putting up a bunch of treestands where I was planning to hunt and as I was told that wma is gonna be overloaded this year..i have another wma I could hunt but its so far away from me the cost of gas is just too much for me....its 2 hours away..had a guy that offered to let me lease his farm this year 160 acres..but when he told me it would cost me 1,500.00 for the year I said no thank you too much money for me to be able to afford it....
i cant use the cocking rope on account of my back problems...my doctor has me on a strict order not to be pulling or lifting anything...
there is a five dollar bounty..but its hardly worth all of the trouble it would be to get registered. i may do it next year and really hunt them when it isnt deer season. you dont even have to have the nutria..just the tail. to register, it says i must have a trapping license, but ill probably call to get any confusion cleared up.
a nutria rat is an invasive species of the south..its a giant rat! probably about 5-15 pounds. they feed on marsh grass, which is basically all we have way down here in the tip of the boot of louisiana. look up a few pictures man, they sure are some ugly little critters.
ha ha dad got mildly upset with me over the deer hunting this season...he said "like hell your not going to hunt"..he said so maybe you wont be able to bow hunt but there is no reason you cant get a rifle and hunt during regular rifle season which opens on the 9 of November...so on we go I suppose...even if I only kill a couple of does this year it would make me feel good to at least have a couple does for the freezer..and I would be doing the STATE A HUGE FAVOR BY TAKEING A COUPLE OUT..
