I was talking with a buddy of mine who also hunts. We were discussing how our state, Maryland, has been adding more and more Sunday hunting opportunities. It is still on private land only and certain counties only (I am luck enough to have permission to a farm in one of those counties). He says Sunday is "a Holy day and should not be used to hunt God's creatures". I am of the thought that Sunday is just another chance for a M-F, 9-5 working stiff like me, to get out and hunt. Normally I have 1 day a week to get out unless I take a vacation day or there is a holiday. If it rains, I have prior obligations, or anything else.. I cannot hunt. Personally, I think hunting should include Sundays in all of Maryland and include public lands. Does your state allow Sunday hunting? What are you thoughts about it?
Only two days in a week end... Yes it's always been allowed were I live and the best day to hunt if you ask me...
It's allowed in Louisiana and I don't see it ever changing. I don't have a problem with it at all though I normally have to leave the woods a little early in time to make Church
Its allowed in S.C. on private land but not on public land. I like being able to hunt on Sunday on my lease, but some folks that I know say the public land could use the break...
Bowhunting on Private Land is allowed here on Sundays. I hunt on Sundays. If Sunday is a "holy day" to him then he shouldn't hunt. Look at the calendar, Sunday is not the 7th day of the week it is the 1st. But, to each his own. People will play that card, yet they have no problem working on that day. They have no problem doing anything else they do during the week on that day, but they thinking hunting is wrong. Whatever! Just my .02
Hunting in general is relaxing, soothing and exciting. Relaxing being the operative word here. If one gets the chance to harvest on Sunday, then yes, there is work to be done. Could not think of any other kind of 'work' I would enjoy doing on Sunday or any other day. Being on stand helps me unwind and relax. Keeps me busy 'hunting'.
I think MD will soon open all Sundays on private land and some public land in the western counties. The loudest voices opposing it are the horse people who want to keep what they call "safe Sundays" when the ride horses and let their hounds chase foxes.
This is the first year in Virginia for private land Sunday hunting. As said before as a Monday thru Friday working guy I will hunt Sunday.
Has always been legal here... I see no reason why it would not be allowed. Everyone has their own beliefs... Let them hunt if they want. Not allowing a person to hunt on Sundays makes 0 sense to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
if its the holy day and hunting shouldnt be allowed, all malls, shopping centers, restaurants, etc should also be closed. its the holy day right?
What Sam said is spot on. What about the folks who can only hunt on the weekends? That alone really puts a damper on anyones ability to hunt, so allowing hunting on Sunday is a plus in my book.
