I've shot mechanicals before with mixed results. What are some you guys like and why? Blessings........Pastorjim
Killzone trophy tip. Simple, tough design with no O rings. Blades are sharp and they cut a hell of a hole. Here is some reading for you. http://forums.bowhunting.com/tech-talk/64172-rage-2-blade-vs-nap-killzone.html http://forums.bowhunting.com/tech-talk/62188-making-switch-broadheads.html
Ive always used Rage and never had a problem. Your probably going to get a thousand different answers on which ones are better. Best thing to do would be to buy one with a practice tip, the practice tips that Rages come with have always been dead on with the actual broad head for me but I've heard stories where they haven't been on. Best of luck deciding on which ones to go with if you do make the switch.
I've used Rage, 2 blade bloodrunners, and spitfires all with excellent results. I like trying different broadheads and this year I'm shooting the killzones (with and without the trophy tip). If this broadhead lives up to my expectations I could see me sticking with it for a long time.
I actually just ordered some Swhacker 125gr. I like the design and concept of the way their blades open. Have heard good things but don't have any personal experience with them to throw in.
I used the regular Rage 2 blade last season with great results. Can't complain about their performance but I like the concept of the Swhacker heads blade deployment a little better so I decided to give them "a day in court" this year.
I'm trying these sidewinder rockets out. Simple action and rubber washer holding them up. Wish they were just two blade though. Sidewinder Broadhead | Rocket Broadheads | Bow and H... | Trophy Ridge
I switched to solids this year, but shot swhackers for 2 years. They are the best built mechanical I have ever shot. If I ever went back to mechanicals it would be the swhackers again.
I shot kill zones last year. Had great success but am thinking of trying ulmer edges or swhackers this year. Love the design of the ulmer edges. And you can get a solid steel ferrule which is a plus. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I use grim reapers and have had great success. I'll be using them again this season with the addition of G5 T3s
Love Killzones but I'm switching to Swhackers this year and will probably stay with them for a long time. Love the concept behind them.
I'm going to try the hypodermic 125 gr first time for mech but had to get the bug outta my system Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have both Id say go with the Killzones. Thay are both really good broadheads but after taking both of them out into the woods going through brush I've had both the kill zones and the Rage get snagged on me. They both deployed a blade but at least the Killzone I could reset and feel confident with. The rage however kind of kicked out part of the shock collar and I had to replace it once I got in the stand. I'm still going to use the Rage's but I might not replace them once they become unusable.
killzone 2' and rage 2'. i like both. thinking about getting either the rage 2 3/8 or the killzone 2 3/8'. just need to find them at a reasonable price
I've heard a few people say this and that is one of the main reasons I'm making the switch. How were the bloodtrails for you, Generally speaking?
Pastor Jim, Given todays technology a majority of the mechanical broad heads you try will more than likely get the job done. With that being said there will more than likely be some out there that aren't so great. My experience has been the rage brand since they first came out, and they have done well for me. No issues what so ever. They fly spot on with my field points which for me is a no brainer.
I like the Rage titanium, too bad they quit making them. I would recommend an arrow that weighs over 400 grains to go with any mechanical
