I drove out to my site today to set up a couple of mock scrapes, trim some limbs, etc. As I am walking out to the stand through a ditch which cuts across the field planted in corn, I jump a deer. I hear it plow through the corn but never see it. I stopped until I heard it stop moving. I proceeded on to my stand, where I pick a couple of oak trees to set up my scrapes near. There is one about 20-30 yards on either side of my stand. I hang my Tinks scrape bomb, then climb up into my stand to check my placement. Then I decided, what the heck let me just sit here for a few, its now 2pm. After about 15 minutes I pull out my phone to take some pics. My bro in law and I disagree on whether this is a good early season spot or not. After taking a few behind me I turn back around, look out and see a doe about 40 yards in front of me standing in the ditch. I couldn't get my camera up in time, but I did catch this In the middle of that pic is her fawn. I was down wind of them, and they never saw me. Yeah, I think this spot will do just fine. I'm pumped as well. I will not be back out at my food plot until opening day. I've put in my boss buck feeder yesterday, and filled it with 160lbs of corn. All my stuff is growing quite well, so to say I'm excited is an understatement. Good luck to everyone. And that is a killer spot my friend, nice job on choosing that. Looks to me that you have them in a good funnel running down that edge.
I sitting here in 101.3 deg heat and thinking mock scrape??? A bit early ??? I could only be so lucky. It will be Oct. 15 but I'm looking forward to it. Looks like a great spot, I agree. ( you know how bro in laws are anyway) lol
