Hey so I was wondering what the maximum comfortable distance you would shoot a dear? I know some of you can hit that little dot at 80 yards every time but would you really risk it? What's the farthest you would shoot a dear at? Or attempt? Mine would be 40 maybe 50 yards but I think that's pushing it!

If I did not like my dear and was going to shoot her it would be at real close range so I would not miss. :D - Ignore me, please.

    (40) yards is top for me.

With every condition perfect (i.e. calm animal broadside, no wind etc. ) the farthest I would shoot at a deer is 60 yards. Other than that, I prefer shots no longer than 40.

I practice out to 40 but don't shoot a deer past 30. I'm working on increasing my yardage but I still limit my deer to 30.

I doubt I'll ever shoot another deer past 40 yards. I just don't feel compelled to, if I can't get within 40 yards of a deer at this point then I don't need to be deer hunting.

I prefer to get them at 20 or less. On our property, you would be fortunate to get a shot past 30 yards, unless you were hunting the field edge.
Personally, my limit is 30 yards. I have never shot a deer beyond 25 yards in my 20+ years of bowhunting.

I would have to say that 30 yards is the farthest shot I would take on a whitetail. If all conditions were perfectly ideal I may consider one out to 40. Wouldn't even consider any further at this stage. I practice regularly at 40 and closer. But have practiced out to 60 before but not often.

Practice out to 50 and 60 regularly...would take a shot at 40 if everything was right.

30 yards is about it for me. Where I hunt it's hard to get a shot much further than that anyway. I practice regularly at 40 and 50.

40 yards max for me. I had a 150-160" standing broadside at 51 yards for what seemed like hours (probably 2-3 minutes) last year and just couldn't risk it. And I bought beef at the end of season.

Farthest I have shot is 43 yards, would do it again without hesitating. My max would probably be 50 if the conditions are perfect, I routinely practice out to 100 yards though.

I got my brand new creed sighted in up to 70 but I would never bring myself to go past 40

50 would be my absolute max. I know what I am capable of and am confident in my abilities

40 yards is my max in perfect conditions with calm feeding deer.

I practice out to 100 so I'd shoot to 50.
