My family was lucky enough to find 10 acres of land in the area we hunt back in the late winter of 2013 and last week the cabin went up. It has been pretty exciting for me. Its only 10 acres so there isnt too much I can do with it but it has county land on 3 sides of it which totals well over 3,000 acres along with lots of other public land in all directions around it so the hunting opportunities are many. I have the area mostly to myself till November and then a few rut only bow hunters show up and guys start filling the woods with corn piles getting "their" gun spot ready. Here are some pictures of what we have so far. Its 28x28 with a bedroom that will be 9x10 and we will build an "L" shaped bunk in there to sleep 4 people. It has electric but will not have water for several years or maybe never. Just not in the cards with how much that costs right now. Main heat will be a wood stove. I am not sure about how my dad feels but if its up to me it will NOT have a tv. Deer camp is for cards, darts and a few beers not sitting down and watching tv like you can do at home.
I would say do a TV with a DVD player for the rainy days so you can have a Hunting show playing in the background. But no Cable!! lol
We have a TV at our place to keep the kids busy at times and for football games, check the weather, etc. We just have an antenna.
I was going to add the same comment. We just built a similar shop/cabin mainly for deer hunting. I didn't want a tv there for the same reasons you said, but if you are by yourself it can get boring at night. I'm planning on setting up a tv this fall with dvd for hunting dvds or movies. When others are around we can throw in the hunting videos and put on mute. Playing cards and having a few shastas works well with others. Don't forgot a grill to throw some fresh loin on after your first kill. That is probably my favorite part. Oh yeah, it looks real nicely done too. You will enjoy it immensely. I meant to quote CABLEBOB, but same idea either way.
