I bought a new set of cold weather boots last season. Any recommendations on how to eliminate or reduce the smell of leather? I generally use rubber boots, but these were a good deal and very warm.

What did u end up buying? Been looking for a good cold weather, tree stand boot that will allow me to sit longer.

I use the Danner Pronghorn 1200 for my very late season hunts. A pair of heavy smartwool socks and those boots make for one much less miserable hunter in December.

As for the scent, I just set my boots outside on a few windy days and I spray down with scent killer spray. Let them sit outside, go trek through some mud and grass. The scent wears off fairly fast.

I spray my boots with scent spray before I head into the field anyhow. I never considered leather to be a "bad" smell to deer. Rubber maybe.

Thanks guys. I've tried spraying with scent killer and walked around in the field. Still smell leather and agree I don't know if it has a negative effect.
