What do you guys think is the best rain gear (pants/jacket)? I want something I can use down to maybe 40 degrees that is waterproof, soft and quiet.

    What works for you?

my midweight UA gear is made of a water repellent fleece. Keeps me dry in everything but a torrential downpour. For that, I bring a set of XXL FroggToggs in Mossy Oak (found on clearance one year for a total of $40 for both top/bottoms.) I just throw them on over whatever I'm wearing. They are not very quiet, but if it's raining that hard it doesn't matter. They are packable, very lightweight, absolutely waterproof and still fairly breathable.

I see light brown, green, or khaki FroggToggs on sale all the time for the same price; it would be easy to make those look kind of like ASAT with a little fabric paint if you don't want to wait for clearance or spend the coin on camo ones.

My wife bought me a Russell outdoors rain suit. She found it on ebay cheap. I mostly wear it fishing and stuff. My buddies all figure it's quieter than they're expensive hunting outfits.

Anybody have experience with "Rivers West"? I have read some good things about their stuff.
