Lately when I am shooting I am finding that I am rushing my shot. By that I mean right when I see the target I like to squeeze the trigger. Anyone know how I can fix this or have any tips that will help me slow down?
Focus on your breathing. I watch the pins go up and down on the target and when I'm ready to shoot, I hold my breath on the exhale. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I caught myself doing the same thing years ago but never while hunting . I was worried that the habit would carry into my hunting so I started drawing my bow a couple of feet off target . That forced me to hold it till I acquired the target and cured the problem for me .
That is a form of target panic. Force yourself to count to 5 while aiming, with the pin floating on the spot, before you release your shot.
Force yourself to go through a mental checklist before each shot. Break each motion down and don't shoot till everything is done. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He's asking for help on a problem and you pretty much tell him to piss off and go somewhere else. Real helpful. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Apparently you didn't read the post right above mine....?? The one about "target panic" which in my oppinion isn't a real thing.. My comment wasn't toward the OP.
Yeah... That's your opinion. He's asking for help, your post was irrelevant and not needed. On topic: I suffer the same thing... Count to 5 and force yourself to focus on breathing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Its all mental like most have been sayin. Just remember to exhale pause and focus then squeeze the trigger. Then you'll be fine! Hutch
I don't know where you're getting your info from but target panic is a real thing that many archers have. Even if you don't think it's real, just help the OP or don't post. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
In your opinion it's not a real thing? Probably because you've never had it. Be thankful for that because it is a very real thing and it sucks!
Metal checklist and breathing helps me, and DO NOT release the shot it doesn't feel right just let it down and reset yourself. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I just had that same problem! couldnt get myself to settle down. Cleared my mind and remembered the steps and I kicked the habit! Stacking them now!
I catch myself doing that as well. You just have to real bear down and focus on all the proper steps... it will be gone in no time.
