So the wife finally expressed an interest in learning to shoot........ Does any one have any experience with- Diamonds "The Edge" or PSE 'Chaos"???????? open to other suggestions as well....
I have the diamond Edge bow. My daughter has zero interest in archery and it may work for your wife. Let me know if you are game and I will go look for it.
Spend enough time around the bow shop and you hear what bows people like. It is pretty popular with the girls that shoot league where I shoot. Way to be a penis there Tom.
Joel bought his old girlfriend the Edge, and she really liked it. Shot pretty damn well, too. Plus, they make a sweet bowfishing bow if things don't work out
My wifey liked the edge. The pse was loud in our opinion and she said it had a lot of hand shock. She wound up with a Hoyt kobalt from what she shot, I think she decided on the Hoyt because it was "prettier". She liked the bowtech carbon rose as well. It's cool your wife is getting into archery.
Please buy your wife the Chill SDX (Non-pink version) That way if she doesn't end up taking to archery I can buy it from you.
The Edge is a good bow for anyone starting out, man or woman, young or old. I used to be an archery tech for a sporting goods store and I set those up all the time. Very easy to change draw length, no press needed. And the draw weight has a huge adjustability range. The one minor downside is the accessories are cheap and the sight is a little brittle. But if you have an old sight laying around throw it on there and it's a pretty good little rig.
I own The Diamond Razor Edge and my husband as well owns one. I use it as my backup hunting bow and mainly as my bowfishing bow. I am extremely happy with it. The versatility of the the shooting weight and draw length are very nice . It really comes into play when you want a bow to transition from hunting to bowfishing. ( it shoots really nice using fingers for such a short little bow) The ajustability of the draw length and weight is especially helpful when it comes time to resale the bow. I as well when I was managing the bow shop I sold alot of Diamond Razor Edge bows, the satisfaction level from my returning customers after purchasing the bow was very high. Ive shot the newer Edge and it feels about the same as the Razor Edge, but the newer one looks a bit nicer I would also recommend purchasing your own accessories for the Edge bow.
Ya I was drawn that direction first but then to the Bowtech for two main reasons... 1. I dont want to wrap the thing in $100 bills only to find that after a month it hangs in the huntin room and isn't used. The Bowtechs are pretty available used and at a great price. 2. If she does like it, once she advances some I will get her something better and the Bowtech will be there for the kids as they progress from the bows they have now. oh and as mentioned I could kill some fishes with it also. (even though I already have a bowfishing rig lol)
I started out with rental bows at different archery ranges. They didn't fit right but were good to see if I even liked it. I've been told I will have so much fun when I get my own bow. Since I still wasn't sure if I really liked archery I bought a diamond infinite edge and dressed it up with new pink strings etc. It worked for me but I decided to upgrade only a month after getting it. I think she should just go to a range and start shooting with a rental bow to see how it feels to hold a bow and to actually shoot it.
TJ trust me when I tell you do not waste your time with the edge. I had one for jen. It is a pain in the A** to keep it tuned right and the higher you turn up the poundage the louder they get. Look at the mission menace they are the same price point. package deal is usually about $450-$550. then you can use it if she doesn't like it or set it up for one of the kids.
I have a friend that just got a Bear Cruzer - she is new to archery hunting and really likes it. I have the Mathews Mission Craze. I started with a Hoyt Ruckus. Definately like the Mathews though. Good luck with the one you picked out. Hopefully she will come to love shooting!
