Yes. Just like with your trad bow it keeps the fibers of the string lubricated so they don't rub against each other and wear our prematurely.
I recommend as often as every other time....and ! recommend using a UV reduced wax . parafin based waxes are incredibly UV absorbant.....it may not be substantial enough to matter but thats my opinion...cheers
I would definitely wax the string and cable.... I do it every time I take my bow out... dont take that long and it keeps your string and cable nice and fresh and together...
I typically use either the Scorpion Venom Wax or 30-06 Outdoors String Snot. I've had really good luck with both. I use X-Wax made by BCY. I figure they make the fibers, they know how to design a good wax. I have been using it for 3-4 years and see no reason to change. I have used Scorpion Venom but I thought it did last long and my strings got fuzzy quickly.
I don't think there is anything wrong with it. I used beeswax with success back in the 70's when I started archery. IMO there is many better options (ie silicone based) in today's world.
The regular black and white one. This was on my last bow, which I purchased used. It was all I had and I saw a spot on the string that I didn't like and I didn't want to forget. Since I had chapstick on me I thought what the heck...
Scorpion wax here too. I also use their cam and serving lube, especially for where my strings contact the string stops on my Bears. Seems to really keep the wear down. V
I've used bees wax I harvested and rendered out of my bees, seemed to work fine. I do use the string snot now though.
