What's your thoughts on this? Im completly against it but know many people do it. Reason for being against it is the increase risk of injury or death from a stand imo. Does sound enticing but I love to enjoy the hunt as a whole being sober. Why mix alcohol with such an awesome sport?
I've been known to take a root beer or two to the stand. Does that count? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
A clear head makes for a more productive and alert hunter. Increases the odds and tips the scales more in your favor of getting work done. With that said, a Man has ta do what a Man has ta do. Responsibility.
Yea always thought too that you cannot discharge a weapon while intoxicated. Never really looked into the legal aspects
Alcohol and hunting do not mix in any way. Alcohol and celebrating a dead deer are a mandatory pairing in my book though.
Negative. I can refrain from drinking beer long enough to enjoy one or two when my hunting is complete. I think hunters in genral work too darn hard to get an edge to give up any edge you have gained by drinking in the stand. Alcohol not going to do your ability to focus, react, think, stay awake, climb, shoot, make good decisions any better. Love me some beer, never thought of brining it to the stand with me.
Like the op said I know several people that do, I've had one or two before heading out but anymore than that and I stay out of woods. It's pretty rare that it happens though. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk
I don't drink before or during a hunt at all and usually wont drink after unless someone shoots something.
Not while bow hunting, but always when Im dove hunting. And I think Beer goes with everything except archery and driving. BUT, know your limits!!!
I'm a big fan of a cold beer or some Jack on the rocks. While hunting? No. At camp? Absolutely. Not to mention the obvious stupidity of getting a buzz while hanging 20ft in the air, standing extremely close to razor sharp blades designed for the sole purpose of killing, I'd say you're on the short list to win a Darwin Award. Not to mention, some people are under the impression that a shot of the good stuff will keep your body warm in the winter, it actually has the opposite effect. It lowers your core body temperature, now you're hanging in a tree, buzzed, next to razor sharp blades, and you're about to go hypothermic. Doesn't sound like a good time to me.
I've been know to stash ONE beer in my pack with a water and nurse it for a couple of hours but that's me if we're being honest and keeping this to ourselves. It usually after a hard day of working the property and I'm not hunting as much as I'm enjoying a nice sit in the stand to watch the sunset. Fire suit on
