A 130-140 walks past your stand within the first hour of openeing day morning. Do you guys take the deer or wait knowing you still have a long season ahead? Lets hear from you guys!

Taking him every single time. Not even a hesitation. I'm also in PA so that influences my answer a bit as well.

The last 2 years I have had the chance to shoot a buck on opening day, and I shot both because they were the deer I watched all summer and was after them. Both deer were barely over 100" but they were mature and 4 years old or older and I had history with them. So if I was you and it was a deer I wanted, I would shoot.

Yup I would shoot no question. Not much sense in being in the stand if you're not going to shoot the buck you're after.

I would take the shot. I don't see many deer that size where I hunt, plus I always have a couple doe tags in my pocket to continue bowhunting.

Heck Yea, but the odds of seeing a 130 -140 are slim where I hunt, no limit on bucks and a 4.5 month long season probably don't help...

I've been married long enough to acknowledge when I'm wrong. Humble pie...except for Eastern NC, where you can take 4 bucks. Lucky dog!

great question! I faced the same scenerio in Illinois on the first day of my 6 day hunt. i had a low 130's class broadside @ less than 20 yards for over 8 minutes....had the bow in my hand...put it down....picked it back up....put it back down!! it was a tough decision but i let him pass as Illinois is a 1 buck state, and i knew for a fact there were bigger bucks where i was hunting. Ended up eating the $421.00 of Illinois's non-resident finest bowl of tag soup!! I don't regret the decision in the slightest bit either.
