I've always shot closing my non-dominant eye and have never tried shooting with both eyes open. I'm thinking of giving it a go once the new bow gets in, putting a 1/4" peep sight on it since the housing on the G5 Optix XR2 is a bit larger and figuring with the slightly bigger peep site to try with both open. Anyone here shoot with both eyes open, any tips or advice?
i always shoot with both eyes open in archery. as far as tips, nothing really. just focus on the target. probably not very helpful...lol
Old School Here... have always closed my non-dominate eye. I tried shooting with both eyes open but found it hard to teach this old dog a new trick. Trying it with a new set up and equipment is probably the way to go.
Both open always. I tried with closing an eye but would feel like I was straining my eye, so both it is Sent from my RM-845_nam_vzw_100 using Tapatalk
I shoot with both open, although my vision is so bad in my left eye it might as well be closed. Give it a shot and see what you think.
I tried it and it didn't really work for me. I would focus on the target and never really saw the pin.
Handgun - both eyes open Bow - non-dominant eye closed I watched a video on youtube of Levi at a competition and noticed he had both eyes open. I tried it and it didn't work for me.
I can do either. Sometimes i'll shoot with both open then others i'll shoot with my non dominant eye shut. I have found i shoot better with both open though.

I shoot everything with both eyes open from scoped rifles to bows. I used to close one eye in archery but decided last year to try both open and haven't looked back.
I try to keep both open but old habits are hard to break LOL! I often find myself squinting some with my non-dominant eye, just to make sure it doesn't try to take over some LOL.
Yup so tried the both eyes open and doesn't work for me. I may keep trying it to see if I can get used to it but find closing left eye works better for me at the moment. Who knows, maybe this old dog can learn a new trick but so far old school works best for me!
I started with one eye closed because it was easier for me, but once I kept trying with both eyes open my grouping actually became tighter than I ever shot with one eye closed. My vision is not great and even with contact lenses my sight would become blurry with one eye shut. It is a little more relaxed to have one eye open, plus as it was said earlier, you can follow the fletch to the point of impact easier. It may be aggravating at first, but in my experience has worked out better. -Andrew
I'm a left eye dominant but shoot right handed, so I have to close one eye. I've been thinking about the switch to see if my accuracy improves at all.
