i tree stand hunt mostly. i want a camo that if im in a tree with little cover or after the leaves fall i dont stick out like a sore thumb. my mossy oak is nice in the beginning part but i think, i look like a blob in the tree later on. recommendation please!!
People wrap too much faith up in camo patterns. I started out hunting in regular cloths because we couldn't afford a lot of camo stuff and there wasn't a lot of variation in camo available in the early 80's. What little I had was the old army camo and it also worked fine. Modern camo is a fashion statement and that's fine, I'm into it also even have realtree seat covers in my truck and I love camo everything but as far as impacting success of hunting my personal opinion is that the several deer I killed without it didn't care in the least. I like the realtree AP patterns most of all, BTW.
I think Predator fall gray is the best all around camo there is especially when hunting from a tree I swear by it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have become much less dependent on camo. I often wear just a brown pullover. After wearing a blaze orange vest season after season I've realized that camo doesn't matter nearly as much as people think it does. But just like covey master, I have a few sets of camo. Mostly realtree and some outfitter camo. I must say though, the predator camo cannot be beaten. It seems to work much better than the big names like Realtree or Mossy Oak etc.
I like Mossy Oak Treestand, not too sure it really helps all that much...lol. Breaking your outline up matters the most IMO, and back ground.
What if I said Lost Camo just to make your decision harder? Haha! In all seriousness though I would look more on the design of the clothes first and then see what patterns it is available in. They're all gonna be about the same. I ended up with Lost Camo because I really liked the Gridlock Suit but that's just me
Agreed. I look at materials mostly. I don't wear any cotton because I always sweat walking in whether it's 70 degrees or -10. I'm not against mixing and matching patterns either. It seems like every time I hunt with a group there's the one prima Donna that has the whole under armor or bone collector outfit that matches everything down to the gloves, hat, and socks. The does actually come closer if your socks and gloves match.
I've got an older set of scent lok leafy wear. Love the stuff never get busted while wearing it. But like others have said, worry more about the performance of the clothing. Must be soft and quiet especially when there's no leaves on trees.
Cabelas new zonz camo is pretty awesome, I try to wear two different camo patterns so as to break up the human silhouette I believe that is more important than the pattern itself.
ASAT proved itself to me many years ago, when I invested in the 3D suit. Not only does it blend in, the deer look "through you", but it hides movement real well. I have heard great things about Ultimate Camo as well, and I think it is made right around my area somewhere, but I want to see it in person. It looks like original Realtree on it's web site. (Which is not a bad thing) V
The onlyest reason I wear camo is to hide from other hunters....I dont always wear camo...but when i do.... its lost camo....youre welcome Mathews.....
Wow I like the looks of that Ultimate Camo! I hunt a lot of oak trees that don't have much cover at times. Does anyone on here have it that can comment on it?
I have the Under Armour rut jacket in Realtree AP, I love this setup! I also wear some Ultimate Camo when its warmer.
