I just got my Elite in March, and my strings are already starting to fray. I keep them regularly waxed, and probably don't have 500 shots through the bow. I attached some pics, and I assume the bow isn't safe to shoot like this. I expected more from Winner's Choice strings. I am going to take it back to the shop where I bought it and see if I can get some replacement strings. Anyone else have this issue on their new bows?

Those strands near your peep look cut to me. The strands on the cable look like they are catching on something in the slide.

Weird they would fray by the peep. I would ditch the slide and get a teflon cable slide (even if it wouldn't be fraying) and see what happens.

This. The cable slide that comes with the Elite isn't very good. Get a teflon one and you will be much happier.

A lot of guys are changing out the Elite cable guard slide for a Saunders Hyper Slide because of that. I'm like one of the others above, the fraying at the peep looks cut!! Not cool!!

Yeah, I've read about guys using that Saunders thing. I'm not a big fan of moving parts on something like that long term. I personally like just the slippery teflon ones. JMHO.

Yikes. Looks like yet another G5 Metapeep fraying your string. I read reviews about that and went w/ the RAD Super Duece. Don't know anything about the cable fray.

Been seeing the elite slides eating alot of cables this year. What kind of peep is that? Looks like it's cutting the string. I don't think either of those are faults of the string though.

The guys are telling it like it is. Saunders Hyperglide and check out the peep sure looks like it has been cutting it. Also if it isn't that old I would be calling them.

The Saunders Hyper Glide is Awesome! I love it, makes your draw cycle much smoother too.

The peep looks like damage from someone splitting the strings while the bow was under pressure to me...

As tempting as it is... splitting loaded strings damages them... How would I know this? :busted:

Just an update on this thread. I spoke with Elite customer service about the excessive wear on my strings under the cable slide. They requested a few pictures, but after seeing them they said that they would be happy to send me a new set of strings. Couldn't be happier. Another great example of great customer service from Elite archery.

Elites customer service is second to none. They can replace the cable slide with a newer and better factory slide, but I still recommend the Saunders Hyperglide. It will actually even make the draw even a little smoother. I also would get a custom string. The winners choice string will stretch considerably faster than a custom one. Id take the the one they gave you as a back up and get a custom one.
