The fawns are starting to show up now and just wanted to see how many others are seeing per doe. This is the first year (out of three years running trail cams) that I only saw one fawn with a doe. Of course there are other does that are stilly carrying, just going off the first sighting. I know there are several factors that decides how many fawns will be born, but do you think this past winter will have a big impact on the number?

So what are you guys seeing and how severe was the winter for you?

The winter was pretty bad here. Not a lot of forage because either the snow was too deep or it was frozen. I don't know if that plays a role but we have only seen 1 fawn. With our turkey season running so late we usually come across around 5 or 6 but we just haven't seen the numbers. We have also noticed an increase in predator population.

Been getting reports of them for about two months down this way. Nearly stepped on a new born last week while working.

You can't judge the fawn per doe until fawn start feeding in fields. Does don't travel with their fawns often early in life, until they start traveling together its difficult to judge a fawn crop.

Checked trail cams this evening and besides finding a wonderful bachelor group of 4 different bucks with promising looking nubs starting we had a few pics of a doe and her fawn! The timber is extremely thick and lush with green vegetation right now in my area!

I have two does that frequently walk through my pasture, they each only have one fawn with them, disheartening since I always see two fawns per doe. I hear more coyotes at night than I used to so I think they might be responsible for my missing fawns.

The last 4 days working I've saw 6 fawns. I damn near rolled my milk truck this morning because of a fawn. Momma ran out in front of me a ways and crossed the road. No one was behind here so I stepped on it again and from out of no where there's a fawn on the center line. I swerved like an idiot sharp to miss it. I missed it alright but I also had a truck sloshing widely side to side. Never do I ever swerve to miss deer. Its a good way to roll a truck. I still can't believe I did that yet this morning.

One sighting and one fawn this year so far. I usually see 50/50 does with one fawn and does with multiple. Been awhile since I've seen triplets.
