Well the GTG is less than two weeks away and this past weekend I realized that I haven't shot a bow since Oct 5th last fall. Figured it was time to at least try and get the new RPM360 setup and dialed in. I've got an initial tune on it and shot a few arrows out to 60 yards yesterday. I still have a bit of tweaking to do before I'm 100% done with it, but overall I really like this bow. It feels a lot like the Experience but is considerably faster and a little bit shorter too. While there is a bit of a bump in the tail end of the draw cycle that isn't there with an Experience, when I drew it at a 29" draw length (that's where it came from the factory) that bump was non existant. Pretty sure that bump only exists if someone maxes the draw length out to 30" like I have. Even with that bump it's VERY smooth, I've shot a lot of "speed" bows over the years and never seen one that was this smooth and comfortable. I've got a rotator cuff in pretty bad shape that gives me fits with aggressive draw cycles and after two days of shooting probably around 200-300 arrows it's not bothering me at all. I'll try and get it through a chrono this week sometime but my best guess based on the sight tape I've got on it is that she is doing 285-290fps right now. This is at 30" measured draw, 58lbs, and a 412gr VAP. I've also tweaked the letoff a bit to lower it and that's likely robbing me of some speed, but I've got plenty of that and it shoots well and is more comfortable for me as it's tuned now. Most of you that have followed the bows I've hunted with over the years know I don't always hunt with the newest model bow every year even if I got it and set it up. I tend to find one I like and stick with it a few years. I really like my Experience and honestly had no intentions of retiring it but figured I'd try out the RPM360. After a few hundred arrows I'm pretty sure I'll either sell the Experience or maybe I'll use it as a backup this year.
Thanks everyone!! So far I really like the CBE. I just can't see myself ever getting serious about 3D again, but this sight is a great compromise between a 3D setup and hunting setup. There are small things I'd change about it if I could but overall I really like the hybrid type setup, it's the best of both worlds for me. This sight is plenty bright. I've read the 2013's weren't and I've never handled one in person to understand why. I actually took mine apart to change the fiber colors (I don't pick up red well) to green/orange/green and there is at least a foot of fiber in the clear protected area on it. If I could change one thing about it I'd put a different light on it. I may be spoiled by having a LP Pro light on my old 3D setup but the stock rheostat light doesn't dim down as far as I'd like and it starbursts a bit during low light conditions.
Yeah, the 2013 complaints about brightness was one of my main concerns, which is why I was leaning more toward the MBG Ascent. I may have to give the CBE another look.
If for some reason you aren't happy with the brightness (I doubt that will be the case) it's super easy to pull it apart and restring with longer fiber. There is plenty of room in there to add as much as you want, it wouldn't be hard to add several feet to each pin if that's what you wanted.
I watched a guy test shoot one of these at a shot over the weekend. I did not try it but it sounded very quiet and the guy who shot it really liked it.
