Sorry to quote Bon Jovi. Couldn't resist.

I am not even sure if these pictures will post as I haven't tried posting pictures before. I have had many robin hoods in my day but I have never shot through another arrows vane.

And because I am shooting Easton Torches (I will never refer to them as that stupid "Da Torch" name - so dumb) I hope I never robin hood one of these arrows. I just got my new bow Saturday and this thing is insane. I can't stop shooting it and I am destroying vanes with each group. Yesterday I shot through the vane twice. I now shoot at a different spot each time.

I love my new rig. Big thanks to the guys at The Buck Stop in West Dundee. Excellent people - excellent pro shop.

not to be an a-hole, but please don't lay anything, even your cool new rig, on top of Old Glory.

Nice shooting, I have torn plenty of vanes but the only ones tough enough to shoot through and not tear through the side as well are the Blazers.

Green with envy...no seriously, spilled some forest green paint on me. Personally, I like the flag look. Not trying to be argumentative, but few things stand better with a flag than a symbol of our 2nd amendment. (In my mind, a bow powerful enough to kill a griz stands as part of those items classified as 'arms'.)

Thanks all. I never saw it before or did it in the past, hence why I put it out there. Bad news is I have a lot fletching to do. Good news is groups are getting tighter.

To powerhawk_11's point... what do you expect...it's a Hoyt. I am super happy with it.

With these Easton Torch arrows and how darn much they cost, it is the first time in my life I am always hoping the are no robin hoods.

@dnoodles - you are right - totally my bad. It is a US flag that was flown in the south end zone of soldier field and I have it laying on top of my pool table for display but also to not let it get wrinkled. Take comfort in it not being on the ground. I generally don't set anything on it and spaced it when taking a few quick photos.

GREAT SHOOTING... I have only shot a vane once and that was in the basement this past winter. On the other hand - my vane damage was no where near compatible with yours! You're the man :tu:

I figured no disrespect was intended; otherwise I would have been uncivil at best.
Where do you shoot? There's a nice huge outdoor range (70yds +) at a park preserve by West Chicago. And it's free!

yeah I think that's what it's called...between Warrenville and West Chicago right off of Butterfield.

Thanks all. I am in love with this bow and set up.

I qouted Bon Jovi when starting this thread. I will throw some Brittany Spears out there for you in honor of tonights shooting session.

If you shoot helical you will have this happen often, if you're shooting straight vanes and having this happen regularly there is a good chance that your arrows aren't flying true. Are all of your arrows sticking out of the target perfectly parallel to one another? My guess, if you've never done this you just started shooting vanes with helical or your new bow isn't quite square. Not to say it isn't possible otherwise but the sudden change in your experience brings up those questions... Or you're just shooting a lot more than you have in the past and frequency is a byproduct of frequency!

I've never shot THROUGH a vane, but I have slid down a previous shaft and torn plenty of QuickFletch Twister vanes right off. They're nice vanes, easy as breathing to install, but get VERY brittle in temperatures below 40 degrees Fahrenheit(I'm on an iPad, don't know how to put the degree symbol in).
